Signed French Antique Cast Iron Gothic Fence Muel et Wahl Foundry de Tusey

  
Description of item for sale. This rare Gothic revival fencing comes from the de Tusey foundry. The foundry at Tusey was started by Pierre Muel in 1832 and was oriented from the start towards manufacture of cast iron artwork. It passed through a series of owners until the Tusey site was abandoned in 1963.

During the period 1850 to 1900 the foundry produced numerous monumental cast iron art pieces. We date these panels to the Gothic revival period of the mid-1800's. Each panel carries the foundry mark (see photos). Condition : There are 11 panels (9 are 40" wide and 2 are 20" wide).

5 of the larger panels have some damage: one is broken into 3 pieces (photo 12), one has 3 cracks (photo 8), and 3 have small pieces missing (photos 9, 10 & 11). Cast iron can be welded so all panels are repairable. Dimensions : each panel is 40" wide and 50" tall. The smaller panels are 20 wide. We welcome Local Inspections and Pickups.
